In my first years in the COMD department, I was told that giving credit where it is due was essential to being a successful designer. When it came to my work I would use a lot of photographs, and I would try my best to find the name of the photographer so they can get their proper credit. It was programmed into my brain that I was to include the name of the artist whose work I would use to add to my work. I did find it a bit pointless since a lot of my early work was student work and I had no intention of showing it to the world or even trying to gain a profit off of it. I would normally provide the names of these artists in my final presentation of the work. I can’t lie, I have fallen behind when it comes to giving credit to other artists. I believe this is partly because I am not directly working with them. That isn’t fair and I will get better at that.
