This is a synchronous course. We will meet at our scheduled times. Your professor will assign content for you to read and videos to watch before class so we can meet, discuss and work on the assigned productions in class. We will be using be using Openlab and brightspace.
Objectives of Study
- Preproduction live event systems development
- Live event safety evaluation
- Live event process experience
- Critical thinking when reviewing preproduction planning and actual event outcomes.
- Development of live event estimate and observation of the resulting budget.
PROJECTS
- Communication: Development of communication system documents for the preplanning and running of a live event. Attend weekly production meetings creating agendas and taking notes. The documents include weekly agendas, agenda notes and contact sheets for assigned events. Each student will also journal their weekly objectives and outcomes.
- Marketing: Read Mission statement, write a list of objectives, target audience, value proposition, elevator pitch, sponsor list preparations and timeline.
- Preproduction planning: Create GANTT, PERT to establish deadlines on event calendar. Create WBS to determine labor needs and hours.
- Budget: Create an estimate for assigned event. The estimate should include materials, venue, and labor costs.
- safety: Use the assigned venue to create RAMP and DIM-ICE tables to demonstrate risk and safety concerns. Write a Process Safety Management system for the location of the event addressing the issues raised in the tables.
- Production: Attend paper tech through performance.
- Live event experience: Write a reflection: compare/contrast paper of the event preparation documents and the actual event outcomes.
