This is a reminder for those who are producing short videos. It is a copy of the announcement from early February. If you already presented, and didn’t send out your video link, you still need to do it retrospectively:

>

2. For students who are producing short films:

If you are producing a short film, you need to meet with your technical advisor to go over your progress. You can’t just submit what you think is complete before your presentation. Here is the additional rule for the video students:

After the approval of your finished film, you must upload your project online such as Vimeo or YouTube . Then, at least 48 hours before your presentation, you need to send out an e-mail to all faculty in the department, introducing yourself, describing what your film is about (and how long it is), and ask the faculty to watch it before your presentation. This way, whoever attends your presentation will have watched your film. In addition, during your 10 min. presentation, you can include up to 30 seconds of a clip from your film.

How do you find out all faculty’s e-mail addresses? Here is the info.:

Midterm Grade

This coming week, all instructors are assigned to post on BB individually how each student is doing. The grading scheme is as follows:

P=Passing work, BL= BorderlineU=Unsatisfactory, SA=Stopped Attending – in danger of being assigned, WU if they do not attend again and fail to withdraw by May 17, 2021.

At this point, we expect you to have posted sufficient materials already on your ePorfolio, and have had at least one meeting with your technical advisor after your proposal is fully approved. If not, you will likely receive “BL”. Remember this “midterm grade” doesn’t affect your course grade at the end of the semester, but if you are behind the schedule, this should motivate you to catch up. If there is any way that we can assist you, please let us know!

February 16th, 2021

As all of your Culmination Project ePortfolios will be publicly available, even your potential employers may find them. Therefore, all the documents, which you upload need to be written as professionally as possible. Within our department, the faculty can review the content, and then, to polish the writing itself, it is good for you to consult with a writing expert. During the pandemic, it is done remotely after you make an appointment at the Writing Center. here is link: https://library.citytech.cuny.edu/blog/supporting-student-writing-city-tech-writing-center/

It is free of charge while you are a student, and so take advantage of it! When you meet with a writing expert, it is usually a great gain for your project.

February 13th, 2021

Due to President’s Day, there will be no classes on Monday, February 15th.

This is around the time that we suggest you meet with your technical advisor for the first meeting. That is, after your proposal is approved.

FYI: Before the approval of your proposal, meetings/discussions with your technical advisor will not count as part of the three required, official meetings for the course. This is your capstone course. Unlike most other courses, you will work on one project throughout the semester, and therefore you are expected to submit a high-quality project with thorough planning. Enjoy the entire process! If you don, at the end, you will have a great sense of accomplishments!

Have a good weekend!
