This is the site for the sound for multimedia class that I taught in spring 2012. I am going to be pulling this site down to prevent confusion with the currently running course.
By Creating the Narration this way i was able to edit my film better in connection with the storyboard. This process also allowed me to adjust the timing of my scenes better. One of the problems that arose from this process was a need for additional narration for the commercial to make sense. Another problem was the formatting of my NOLD clip. so i had to re-export it from logic to a quick time movie.
As many of you know, I had some trouble collecting the video that I really wanted to use for my final project in this class. However, in a brief search of a couple oddball keywords on YouTube, I came across this great short animation called A Lovecraft Dream, which I believe is based on an H.P. Lovecraft story or maybe a dream he actually had.
It is a black and white short and I have the added benefit (or perhaps handicap) of having never listened to the original sound. I chose to do it that way so as to not influence my decisions on the overall tone of the clip. I chose an approximately 2 minute chunk of the nearly 6 minute piece that begins after the title and credits and ends after the first segment of the dream. The clip goes on to deeper layers of the dream/nightmare and I can’t wait to finally see the whole thing with its intended sound (after I’ve finished my project, of course)!
I did this soundscape, Grabe_HPL_Dream_Soundscape, for my piece after having done the rough draft with sound. In doing so, though, I found a number of places where I need to add detail or play with levels to tie the sound together more tightly. In the next week I will have a final draft that I hope will be highly polished.

This is the 2nd draft of my final project. I plan on intertwining music (possibly drum beats) with the sound effects that are already in the video.
I have begun editing the sound to my Final project. This is only a first draft, and will have more work to show soon. I am finding the direction I want to go in with this piece.
The Face of Deliverance
Courtesy of our fellow class mate (Javier Herrera) we will be working on a video clipping that is approximately a minute and 30 seconds long (The Face of Deliverance). The Face of Deliverance video consists of various scenic video clippings with inspirational music. We will be using the entire video excluding 90% of the background music.
TREATMENT
We will be doing an infomercial about the ills of using one of the social
media sites.
The infomercial will be done using voice over this will be done in a very pensive tone. A tone, which we imagine, will causes viewer to stop and think we want to make them say that is true and hopefully lead them to take actions. We are also aiming to make the social media site that we are presenting about not evident until the end of the infomercial.
However at the end of the infomercial the audience should hopefully goes. I get it and hopefully identify with the information that was communicated.
We have not decided on the background sounds to be used as yet. We however will be using various sound effects to indicate the change of scene and tone..
We are currently working on fine tuning the script for the voice over as this will be a critical portion of the treatment to create and achieve the desired out come of the infomercial.
At first I wanted my project to represent a calm relaxing feel by using moving images of whale or dolphin pods in the ocean; a serene moment of hearing birds and soothing wind, but then I realized the sounds I used to hear at home were just as relaxing. Therefore, this is my proposal: I am going to show changes in my neighborhood by using sounds we are all familiar with from every day life.
For my final project, I plan on making a “recut” comedic trailer for a movie. Originally I had planned on doing a movie like “Reservoir dogs”, or “Pulp Fiction” in which the trailer is set to happy melodic music, almost making it seem as if the movie is meant to be a romantic comedy. However upon further research I found that this has been done for both of these films several times over. Here are some links to other trailer recuts that have given me inspiration for this project.
