Studio time for Instruction Manual Project.
Due next week:
Before class, upload a draft copy of your Instruction Manual in Word docx format here (if you don’t use Microsoft Word, use your word processor to export, download, or save as your instruction manual in Word docx format). We will look at some of these during class so that you get even more feedback.
Bring a digital copy of your instruction manual in Word docx format to class that you can email to your classmates for peer review. We want to use Word docx because we can use its commenting features to assist us in the peer review process.
We will be using Google Drive and Google Docs on the upcoming collaborative projects. Have a Google account that you are comfortable using in class by next week (you can use an existing account, or create a new one just for our class). Verify that you can login to that account before coming to class!
Read by next week: “The Basics of Working on Teams,” https://hr.mit.edu/learning-topics/teams/articles/basics, and Steven D. Krause’s “How to Collaborate and Write with Others,” http://www.stevendkrause.com/tprw/Chapter%204.pdf.
Weekly Memorandum: Write about what you worked on to complete a draft of your instruction manual. You have already shared some of your work process and experience in earlier Weekly Memos. Now, think specifically about wrapping up the draft. What were the last minute things that you did? How did you proofread it? Did you run spelling and grammar check on the document? Did you have any challenges with submitting your draft to Dropbox–what happened?
