  • Assisted with 2019 and 2020 Speech Competition for organizer Zheng Zhu.
  • Printed certificates and served as a judge (2019, 2020).
  • Assisted with Beitler Grant (2019)
  • With co-chair Zheng Zhu, organized 2016, 2017, and 2018 Speech Competitions.\
  • Received Elaine Beitler Grant to provide awards to contestants (2016, 2017, 2018).
    • I served as Master of Ceremonies.
  • With co-chairs Shauna Vey and Ramon Albino-Rodriguez, organized 2015 Speech Competition.
    • I served as Master of Ceremonies.
    • Winners won top prizes CUNY wide CLASP Competition, March 4, 2016.
  1. Improvements to COM 1330, Public Speaking (2017-present).
  • With Chris Swift, created Blackboard Template for COM 1330 Public Speaking
  • Goal acheived: Template for COM 1330 on Blackboard, integrated with McGraw Hill Connect.
  • Completed five day training with Karen Lundstrem, June 10 and June 15-18th, 2020.
  • Created OER site for Public Speaking
  • Assisted with adoption of McGraw Hill Connect Online Platform for Public Speaking.
  • Helped to draft, scan and enter results of Student Satisfaction Survey into spreadsheet (Spring, 2018).
  • Textbook The Art of Public Speaking reviewed for evidence of communication theories, Fall 2017.
  • Received certificate from McGraw Hill Connect Training, January 18 and 27, 2017.
  • Created COM 1330 website on Open Lab with shared repository of course documents, 2015-present.
  • Contributed to standardization of COM 1330 Public Speaking curriculum.
    • With Zheng Zhu, prepared memorandum sent to COM 1330 instructors specifying new requirements, Oct 16, 2015.
    • Facilitated workshop with COM 1330 Instructors to explain new requirements.

At request of Dean and Chair I made editorial suggestions for three academic minors:

  • Arabic and Cultural Studies (submitted by Khalid Lachheb). Comments.

Helped evaluate and resolve three appeals, Spring 2020 (1, 2, 3).

  • Contributed to Communication Curriculum portion of Humanities Dept. Self-Study, mainly about proposed baccalaureate program, in preparation for External Evaluator Report, 2015-2016.

  1. Valedictorian/ Salutatorian Selection Committee and Speaking Coach
  • Served on Selection Committee, Spring 2020 and Spring 2021.
  • Coached Valedictorian and Salutatorian on graduation ceremony speech.
  1. Health Communication Symposia (2019, 2021)
  • Organized and hosted “2021 Online City Tech Health Communication Symposium” May 7, 2021.
    • Supported by Mellon Foundation Transformative Learning in the Humanities grant
    • A half day of talks and panels about health inequities. Over 100 in attendance.
    • Goal accomplished: Bringing attention to health disparities.
  • Organized and hosted “City Tech Health Communication Symposium” with Denise Scannell and Zheng Zhu. Oct. 2, 2019
    • Supported by National Communication Association Grant
    • A full day of presentations on Health Communication from experts.
  1. Brooklyn College Speech Evaluations (Fall 2020 to present)
  • Goal accomplished: Providing City Tech students, faculty and staff with free speech screenings, workshops and resources for improved English language pronunciation.
  • Scheduled, promoted and coordinated screenings and workshops
  • With much assistance from Chris Swift and Ann Delilkan.
  • Assisted Organizer Chris Swift Spring 2020 (cancelled because of COVID) and Fall 2019.
  1. Diversity and Inclusion in College Education (DICE)
  • Enlisted to help Professor Amit Mehrotra draft diversity statement for NYCCT syllabi, June 2020.
  • Created banner image for DICE website
  • Participated in Studying Stonewall round table event, organized by Dionne Bennett, Oct. 9, 2019.

  • 104 students scored on Persuasive Speech in COM 1330; Final Presentations in COM 2402 and 3401.
  • Facilitated Oral Communication Rubric pilot test, March 24-28, 2016

  • Completed and revised Critical Course Report for COM 1330 Public Speaking, August 2020.

11.3 Middle States

  • Identified by Provost Bonne August as subject matter expert (SME) on assessments for Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) representatives visit, March 16, 2018.
  • Contributed to success of MSCHE evaluation.
  • Prepared all MSCHE required documents, placed in Humanities Folder on S-Drive, March 16, 2017

  • With colleague Dr. Lachheb, designed survey instrument based on AACU Intercultural Competence Rubric, to assess intercultural knowledge and competence of French students, Fall 2016.

  • Goal acheived: helped create Associate of Science degree in Health Sciences (ASHS).
  • Created COM 1403 Introduction to Communication in Healthcare Professions with help from NYCCT Allied Health faculty.
