A12. The health status of my community is sadly poor. With STD’s in our world today our population is at high risk. Most people either have medical assistance issues or do not have coverage at all. This is why the disease rate is so high, most infected or sickly people either cannot afford treatment or simply never even looked into medical insurance.
A13. Crime Statistics are as follows: Violent Crime rate is a national median of 3.9 about 15,190 crimes Property Crime rate is a national median of 28.6 about 41,171 crimes Crime rate per square mile is a national median of 39.3
A14. In my community we have lots of resources such as schools (public, private, daycare and colleges), we also have over 5 large movie theaters in the area. There are also 3 Brooklyn Public libraries within my zip code alone, and scattered throughout my community. Art and children museums can be found as well throughout the community. Prospect park is one of the largest parks in the community and we also have resources like The Prospect Park Zoo and Botanical Garden.
A15. Parks: Prospect, Wingate, Cortelyou Road Public Pools: Sunset, East New York Recreational Center also has a public pool as well.
A16. In my community religion is a huge deal to most. On just about any block you can find churches, mosques, synagogues and even some spiritually gifted people (palm readers).
A17. The financial and business institutions in my community consists of: – banks (Bank of America, TD, MCU, Chase, Citi, Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo) just to name a few – Clothing and sneaker stores of choice for men, women and children. (Dr.Jays, Jimmy Jazz, Footlocker, Old Navy etc.) – Check cashing (Payomatic, Western Union, Money Gram etc.) – Travel agencies are listed throughout the area as well not much but they are present. – Drug stores are frequently located as well ( CVS and Rite Aide)
A18. The infrastructure of my community is set with street light for each block in order for proper lighting, crosswalks and stop signs on about every corner, traffic lights for pedestrian and drivers as well. Bike and bus lanes present on about any given block. Trees care is provided by the city in order to keep things in order and to remain unhazardous to ur community.
A19. 1- The fact that we have everything accessible to us like busses, trains, taxis, dollar vans, stores on just every block makes our community extremely convenient. 2- Access to public, recreational centers, parks, pools, schools and libraries. 3- Exposure to different cultures
A20. 1- Police brutality and unlawful ticketing and arrests 2- Homelessness 3- Lack of resident parking and too much commercial parking
A21. In order for someone to be successful in the field, you must have a degree of altruism for the human race. With lack of empathy and care for our society and community would simply violate the ethical standards of Human Services. It would be an injustice for a person to work in such a sensitive state of work with no care for our societies well being. |
