                     My cultural source to tackle this assignment is an active/ongoing murder case for the late rapper known to many as “XXXTentacion”. To my knowledge of the case, “X” was shot and killed by a pair of gunmen just as he’d left a motorcycle dealership in Florida. With a bevy of individuals involved, a friend of one of the arraigned suspects (Deedrick Williams) aka ‘Chucky’ took the stand for questioning, and the female friend then identified another associate ‘Big Rob.’ Then, ‘Trey’ was presented and lastly was ‘Boatwright.’ The whole plan came about (of the murder) when ‘Big Rob’ and Deedrick’s friend conferred to first acquire a rental car in Nermark by way of cellphone call on June 17, 2020.The car was a Black Dodge Journey and the friend made her way to one of ‘Chucky’s associates where she would subsequently take the wheel of her own personal car and ‘Big Rob’ manned the vehicle she rented. Time went by into the next day where this witness wasn’t involved but she was thereafter when Chucky swung by her house and they’d learnt the rental had been part of a crash. I do intend on learning more about the case as it progresses.

                 I come humbled and honored to introduce myself to you professor together with my peers . My name is Boyd Embleton and this current semester marks my 1st semester at City Tech after spending my first 2 1/2 years of college at York College. Whilst in the process of choosing my next school of study I heavily looked at how easy my commuting would be as well as how active they were combined with diversity and/or hospitable and certainly not least the question I rested on was, “Am I going to grow here especially pertaining to my major?” Evidently, my answer was yes for City Tech and upon first glance you wouldn’t think a previously Political Science major would fall into Paralegal Studies but I did my due diligence of researching beforehand and I saw the overview posted by Prof. Mennella and I was really intrigued. That and the fact that I have relatives of mine who are alumni of this school and they’d always speak so highly of this institution so those talks definitely helped play into my decision. 

             Law has always been in my veins (if you will), ever since I was in my more tender years thanks to my heavenly watching great uncle who was an attorney by profession, dealing more so with the criminal aspect of things. Simply, my hope is to squeeze as much of this orange in the line of this program as I possibly can that’ll equip me with the necessary tools to certify me to be a Paralegal. And further taking me onto law school too in my later years in pursuit of my ultimately being a lawyer just as my great uncle was. I too, like him believe in the law and its abiding system and want to take up the mantle of representing people, place or thing in wherever my expertise shall take me because the right type of peace and justice should always be met. Finally, one last thing I’d like to leave about myself is I love basketball and most of down time is spent doing in the realm of the game.

In the case and matter of where I would want to work, it arduously brung me to; working for a corporate or other business organization and that particular place would be the American District Telegraph or better known as ADT. Corporate Law for lawyers or better for Paralegals is fascinating because when you think about it, you’re in business for a business or by a business. There’s always a need for this branch of law which garnered my interest on a whole new level because just as people need representation, businesses who are though run by people(s) need it as well. It would actually tear me to assume an area of legal speciality like that of corporate law because I’d prefer to practice law in all of its categories and have it streamlined into various settings. However, money does talk and corporate law has gotten money written all over it and it pales in comparison to being employed by law firm (for example) whether it be small or large because companies tend to hire ‘in house’ attorneys via paralegals to conduct these legal works allowing the paralegal business itself to grow in itself to flourish and businesses like ADT are hiring at an exponential rate for legal services.

ADT has been in the business of helping save lives since 1874. They acclaim the number one spot of smart home securing (systems) in the US as they protect and connect families, businesses and larger commercial customers every day. They’re also the pioneers of a set of products and services including ADT Plus Interactive home and business solutions, and home health services meeting a range of customer needs for today’s active and increasingly mobile lifestyles. Just based on that being their company overview, it was compelling to know that I can be helping a helper who’s so committed to offering their best assistance in their product field. For paralegals, they deploy a versatile set of tasks given by the Team Manager, Legal and the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel and Corporate and Securities compliance. Others include; record management, liaising with internal business partners, and miscellaneous administrative tasks.
