Hello Students!
By Monday, May 1, at 2pm, please REPLY to this post with one or more questions you’d like to ask Joseph Bernard, who will join us for the second half of Tuesday’s class! Joseph is a graduate of City Tech’s Law and Paralegal Studies program, in which she was an outstanding student, and graduated with high honors. She is now in her second year at CUNY Law School. At CUNY Law, she has served as a Teaching Assistant for the Contracts course for two semesters; she served a Judicial Internship in the Civil Term, Kings County; and she was among 16 students selected from her class to be a member of the Trial Practice Seminar. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in employment law (focusing on retaliation and discrimination cases), and she’s interested in mediation.
Please post your questions by 2pm Monday so I can send them to Joseph that afternoon, to consider before she joins us Tuesday morning! For Tuesday’s class, please also read textbook ch. 7, pp. 175-201 (on reserve in the college library), which we’ll discuss in the first half of class.
I hope you all enjoyed today’s court observation! I did! Here is the follow-up assignment, which we’ll discuss Tuesday but I’m providing it in case you want a preview.
Enjoy the weekend, see you Tuesday!

Question to ask Joseph Bernard: what inspired you to go to Cuny Law School after attending City Tech?
Do you like law school so far? And what are the best and worse things about law school?
After reading your write up you have had the honor in serving in many varied capacities which is truly awesome to me. My question is why have you chosen employment law, what is it about the area of the law that appeals to you?
Thanks Liesl, this is a terrific question! KC
NOTE: Private response is visible only to instructors and to the post’s author.
What is the hardest part of being a law student? What is something that surprised you about going into the law field?
what do you wish you had known before starting your first year at law school. ?
What was the most challenging and rewarding aspect of law school thus far, and how has that affected your journey to achieving your goals?
Seeing that you serve as a teaching assistant for those courses in your law school, can you foresee yourself exploring teaching in that field too? (apart from your pursue in employment law)
What made you go into Law School & did you go into law school right away after undegrad? How did you prepare and study for the LSAT?
