This assignment has given me a different perspective on how time goes on. While my activities made up 4 hours of my day, it really did feel like time flew. It showed me that we really don’t have much time to do the stuff we love before the day ends. I picked Sunday to record my day because I knew that I had the most activities planned, but I felt like I needed to spend more time on studying and other education-related activities. In conclusion, I felt like it was a great assignment to really gain insight on what I did on a day-to-day basis and it gives me more motivation to use my time more wisely.

Time Keeping assignment

How I spent my day yesterday October 22, 2022 from 1:30 to 6:30

I cleaned me and my little sisters room – 0.25 (Folding blankets, fixing pillows, organizing)

Started using my phone – 2.0

Checking school email and blackboard to see what assignments I should complete – 0.25

Helped cook lunch for me and my family – 1.50  (Preparing ingredients 0.25, cutting vegetables 0.25, cooking the meal 0.75, and serving the food 0.25)

Began doing my Homework – 1.75

Reaction: Overall it was a calm day. I think this assignment helps you create a schedule for yourself, once you finish a task, you think about what other things you plan on doing. It keeps you organized which is helpful when wanting to be productive.

Timekeeping assignment

This is how I spent my day on Saturday 22, 2022 from 2pm-6 pm

Worked out at the gym-1.0

Taking the train to get home (F train)-0.50

Walk home from the train station-0.25

Do homework right after I arrived home-1.0

Eat my lunch while chatting with my mother-0.50

Walk my dog-0.25

Study for my civil law and procedure midterm on Tuesday-0.50

Reaction: Some specific details of my day were that I was doing my English homework which was writing the first part of my essay. I chatted with my mom about nails and our job since I recently finished training and will actually start working this week, I am excited about it. I liked keeping track of my time although I do not like being so specific about it, besides that I believe this activity was really fun. I usually try to manage my time in a similar way.

MIDTERM EXAM is Thursday! Resources are posted!

Hello Students!

Great job in today’s midterm exam review!  I’ve posted those class notes, which include the review questions we covered (plus a few more), as well as the answer key to quiz #2, and our fabulous photos from last week’s walking tour of the courts, all in the “Class notes…” tab!

In prep for Thursday’s Midterm Exam, please check out these Study Suggestions, and review all of your notes, quizzes, the “class notes” posted here on OL, assigned readings, etc. You may bring your paper copies of the federal court system charts & maps that were distributed in class: this chart from your Civil Lit textbook; this color chart ; and this map of federal judicial districts and circuits.  **I will NOT bring paper copies of these documents to the exam, and you will NOT be permitted to access them electronically!!  Please also bring a writing instrument, and your big, smart BRAINS!!  You won’t be permitted to use phones, or anything else, during the exam.

Enjoy the rest of the day and tomorrow, good luck studying, see you Thursday!

Cheers,

KC

Coughlin’s timekeeping assignment!

Here is how I spent my time on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 3pm-7pm:

Proofread and finalize LAW 1101 midterm exam — 1.0

Prepare assignment and midterm exam study sheet for LAW 1101 class — 0.75

Clean up my desk, finish a few emails, shut down computer for the day, get work materials ready for tomorrow — 0.25

Travel from City Tech to my friend Lucy’s home in Crown Heights (4 train) — 0.50

Visit with Lucy, catch up on family, what’s new, etc. — 1.0

Travel from Lucy’s home (Crown Heights) to my home in Downtown Brooklyn (4 train) — 0.50

Reaction: This activity reminded me of my law firm days, when I used to have to keep track of all of my work time.  It took me a little while to get back in the habit of checking the time when I started and completed each activity, so I could record it accurately.  I was surprised at how much I did during those four hours!  It didn’t seem like much at the time, but when I listed everything out, it looks like I was pretty productive.  🙂
