Hello! I am Kerin Coughlin, the instructor of this course! I teach in City Tech’s Law and Paralegal Studies department because I love the law, and I love teaching!  Many moons ago, I was a junior high school Social Studies teacher, then I became a lawyer, and I practiced law full-time for about twelve years. During most of that time, I was a commercial litigator, which means I represented people and companies that were either suing companies, or getting sued. While I was practicing full-time, I started teaching law part-time, and I really liked it, so I decided to switch it up. This is my ninth year teaching full-time here at City Tech, and I love it! My favorite part of teaching is working with students. Youâre all awesome!
Something I want you to know about me is that I had a rough summer. đ First, in late April, I broke my leg, which required surgery and a looooooooong recovery period. I missed the end of the semester, then I wasn’t able to walk for most of the summer. But I worked hard at physical therapy, and now I’m OK! Second, my cat died in mid-August. đ I really loved him, his name was Darryl and he was only ten years old. His photo is below. He had kidney disease which we treated for a long time, but in the end, it was too much for him. I had him euthanized. I really miss him a lot.
But now I’m confident this school year is going to be GREAT — I will make sure it is, to make up for the summer I had! I hope each of you has a great year too. I really look forward to working with all of you!
