Another project that I participated in through my public health class was a fluoride varnish program at a Headstart Center in Brooklyn. On three occasions, my class and I travelled to the center. I was able to work at the Games station where children identified healthy/unhealthy foods. Twice, I worked at the assessment station. My partner and I performed oral screenings for preschool children, completed report cards for each child, and applied 5% sodium fluoride varnish. I examined five children with a range of oral health care needs. Below are photographs from my experiences, as well as an evaluation of the activity.
