I currently volunteer as a Chaplain with the New York City Transit Authority where I provide spiritual support to employees of the MTA that may be experiencing anything from illness to spiritual distress. I am also a first responder to incidents where persons are hit by trains or buses or when employees are assaulted.
I serve as a volunteer with NYC Medical Reserves Corp where I participate in a variety of disaster preparedness and emergency response training throughout the year. I was able to serve with NYC Medical Reserves last year during Hurricane Sandy at the Park Slope Armory located on 7th Avenue and 13th Street in Brooklyn. The Armory served as a medical shelter for individuals that were evacuated from SNFs in the Rockaways and Coney Island during Hurricane Sandy.
I am very active and involved in my local Church. There I facilitate a women’s group, teaching, instructing and encouraging women in Christian principles.
Beginning in January 2014 I will serve as a volunteer at The Coney Island Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit as a Chaplain.
