I am currently doing my internship for Brooklyn College which is located just south of Flatbush in Brooklyn, New York. It’s one of CUNY’s larger campuses and while I don’t know exactly how many employees work here I imagine it takes a lot of people power to keep the university moving. Being that it is a part of CUNY it is a public college making it a public “business”, whose customers are its students, and to some extent the local government. Brooklyn College was founded in 1930, and was New York City’s first co-ed college.
I’m currently working under Isana Leschinskaya in the department of institutional effectiveness Where I am doing graphic design, mostly for internal communications. Brooklyn College is an extremely important university who’s alumni have gone on to have major impact. Some names included in that list are Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Comedian Mel Brooks, and CNN’s Don Lemon. Just last week in South Brooklyn Iwen Chu was inaugurated. She’s the first Asian American woman elected to US Senate in New York, and she graduated from Brooklyn College with a master’s degree in sociology. She was sworn in on a copy of Dr.Seuss’ “Oh, the Places You Will Go!”, as it was a gift to her daughter for graduating college, and held also spoke to her new position and future success.
Brooklyn college was also named in the top 50 best value colleges 2023 by the Princeton Review at number 39. It was also ranked 12 for best schools for financial aid. Every year the Princeton Review ranks 388 (such an odd number) of the top colleges, and Brooklyn college routinely places on the list. CUNY as a whole has
