Bio

Hello! My name is Beatriz and I am currently a graphic design student at City Tech.

My interest in graphic design originated after I saw that I was able to manipulate images and create interesting layouts with type and images. What got me into graphic design was the fact that a design can be produced on a computer and with that file you are able transfer it on to clothing.  In classes like publication media I was able to learn how to use InDesign, which is used in magazine layouts. As a student in City Tech I also learned how to use programs like illustrator and Photoshop.

Art, music and fashion inspire my work and me. In the high school I went to which was Fashion industries high school I dabbled into film photography, which I enjoyed as well as garment construction. I look up to artists because from one piece of work whether it is the colors or the shapes that they use, a switch in your brain can be flipped to get you creating works. Graphic design allows you to be able to enter any of these fields and experiment with your own artwork. Illustrations can be edited however you want them, which allows you to see how a piece ends up without messing up.

My goal is to be able to apply the skills I’ve learned become a successful graphic designer. My favorite publications are Hi fructose Magazine and Juxtapoz Magazine which always showcase interesting and new artists. What attracts me to these magazines is the type of art that is covered. The art in these magazines showcase p and coming artists as well as well established ones. Artists, photographers, graphic designers, fashion designers and every type of artist are featured in Juxtapoz. These magazines fill entire pages with vibrant art while giving you an article as well.
