Resetting your OpenLab Password

OpenLab passwords will expire and need to be reset every 180 days, or you can reset your password at any time if you forget it, or just want to change it.

Required password reset

Two weeks before your password is set to expire, you will see a notice at the top of the OpenLab after you log in. You can dismiss the notice by clicking the ‘X’ on the right side of the notice, but it will appear again each time you log in.

1. To reset your password, click the Reset your password now link.

2. Enter your OpenLab username or your email address (this should be your City Tech email), and press Get New Password.

3. You will receive an email with the subject line [City Tech OpenLab] Password Reset. Click on the link to reset your password. Depending on your email client, it may be a plain text URL that you need to copy and paste into your browser.

4. When you click on the link, there will be a box to enter your new password. You can press Generate Password to generate a secure password, or you can enter your own. When you’re finished, press Save Password. For tips on creating a secure password, check out this helpful guide on How to Choose a Strong Password. You will not be able to continue with a password that is weak or very weak.

5. After you save your new password, you’ll see a message that your password has been reset. You can go back to the OpenLab homepage to log in, or click the log in link.

Forgot Password

1. To reset your password click on the “Forgot Password?” link in the “Log in” box on the OpenLab homepage.

2. Enter your username or City Tech email address, and you’ll receive a link via email to reset your password.

3. You will receive an email with the subject “[City Tech OpenLab] Password Reset” containing a link to reset your password. If you don’t receive the email, please check your spam folder.  When you click on the link, you’ll be taken to an OpenLab page where you can enter a new password.  The New password box will be pre-filled with a secure password, but you can also delete it and type in your own password. For tips on creating a secure password, check out this helpful guide on How to Choose a Strong Password. Click Reset Password.

4. You can now log in with your new password.
