  • Two Biology students, Aneicka Bookal and Alketa Plaku had their writing featured in City Tech Writer in Spring 2014
  • Biology Student, Ayesha Rasool was accepted to present her work, in the peer led team workshops, as part of READ at the Annual Conference of the Peer Led Team Learning International Society to be held at California State University
  • Biology Student, George Cobos won best poster in the non-Stem category of the Emerging Scholars Poster session for his poster titled “How can peer led team learning workshops address student learning styles to facilitate independent student reading in BIO1101”

  • Professors Seto and Smyth presented on behalf of NYCCT at the Emerging Trends in Biotech Panel for the Brookyln Tech Triangle‘s Tech-Triangle U Entrepreneurship Symposium
  • Professor Haque will be presenting for Brain Awareness Day 2014 at NYCCT on Friday 2014 in the Atrium on the Ground Floor from 11:30-3:30

Grants & Fellowships 2013-2014

  • Professor Seto accepted to be a part of Cold Spring Harbor Lab’s RNA-Seq Working Group to bring Next Generation Sequencing Analysis to undergraduate education.
  • Professor Smyth was invited to take over Prof Williams role on the NSF Tues award to Prof. Theodore Muth of Brooklyn College aimed at incorporating authentic research experiences in microbiology.

Professional Development and Workshops 2013-2014

  • Professor Gianopoulou: The Institute for Computational Biomedicine (ICB) of Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC), the David Z. Rosensweig Genomics Research Center of the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), and the Biological Sciences Department of the New York City College of Technology (CityTech) at City University of New York (CUNY), are sponsoring the 3rd Epigenomics Data Analysis Workshop in May 2014.
