About the Writer

Jackie B.Unaware of the extreme impact, or even the correct name for the major, I decided I wanted to be a Graphic Designer when I was 9. Growing up in a house where literature, art, and computer technology were greatly embraced, it was only natural that Graphic Design call to me.

Though I was born and raised into the evolving era of computer technology, Graphic Design, to me, still persists as a craft of the senses. Today one would suggest Graphic Design was 100% computer generation, but I believe that it is still the combined skill of hand crafted art and logically organized text and imagery. I have found the most successful and persuasive works to derive from original art created with simple intention. Using a combination of drawing, writing, and knowledge of art history, I consistently exhibit genuine as well as factual pieces of persuasive work.

Utilizing the leadership programs provided by the Childrens Aid Society, such as SisterNet, I.D.O.L., and Corporate Workplace, I’ve been able to take advantage of a number of internships and in turn immerse myself in the world of design. As a result, I’ve been privileged to work with companies such as HBO, VIBE magazine, and TIME OUT New York. In addition, I’ve attained scholarships from the Corporate Workplace program and from the New York Times.
