This course examines the aesthetics of major fashion designers from the 19th to the 21st centuries through a combination of lectures and the study of museum clothing collections. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of historic fashion influences and their applications to contemporary and future fashion apparel. By analyzing the evolution of fashion design, students will develop a keen appreciation for the historical context of modern fashion trends and learn to apply these insights to their own creative work in the fashion industry.
