Another project that I was assigned to was working on the FIFA Nations Cup episodes. The episodes were about commentary gameplay, with four hosts giving their thoughts on who they think will win this massive tournament. For those who don’t know FIFA is a soccer game based on the sport. This tournament brought in all the best esports FIFA players and their teams who qualified to come and participate. Now what’s different about these episodes I worked on is that they were shorter than the other videos from other series I worked on. Each episode was now 20-23 minutes instead of 43-45 minutes. Which made it easier to get more episodes done with their captions. However, that doesn’t mean it was all smooth sailing.
I was editing the FIFA Nations Cup 2023 which means this is old footage that just needs captions for audiences who need them. I had lots of fun working on this project since I love soccer and I played FIFA before this project this project just seemed close to me since I grew up playing this game and now I get to edit videos for FIFA recap. Now, like I was saying just because the episodes were shorter didn’t mean it didn’t have issues. The issue I had while doing the captions for these videos was figuring out who was talking. In the other projects, I could see who was talking, but here you would see the host for a few minutes and then after that,t all you would see is the game you don’t see their faces anymore. This made it so hard because I would eventually memorize which voice goes with who, but suddenly a new person would start talking and it would sound like someone else, but I wouldn’t know because the faces aren’t showing. So I had to deal with this issue every episode I worked on, but in the end, I did the best to my ability to make sure the captions were as accurate as they could be. Now I’m just happy that these episodes with captions will be out soon for people to watch and enjoy.
