This research poster analyzes historical events that lead up to the current situation between Ukraine and Russia. This information was gathered from various sources, including google scholar examining the conflict from different perspectives. The conflict in Ukraine has been an issue for more than a century. This research signifies the challenges Ukraine has faced in pursuit of independence and freedom. It is important to realize the significance of building bridges between communities to bring them together rather than building walls to divide them. The people have the power to bring change within our society and should work towards being united.
PSY 3405ID: Health Psychology Interdisciplinary
Professor Amanda Almond

Hello, my name is Khemraj Persaud, and I recently learned of a new rezoning proposal regarding a neighborhood that is close to mine in Queens, NY. After connecting with Dr. Amanda Almond in my Health Psychology 3104 class, we decided to build upon a class assignment regarding a health disparity that affects a particular ethnic group in the United States. From this, I was able to focus on how long-lasting political issues in the Richmond Hill/Ozone Park area of Queens, NY have been affecting the overall health of its residents and what is being done about it.
SOC 2401ID: Society, Technology and Self Interdisciplinary
Professor Joseph Smith
This course analyzes the social relationship between society, technology and self from a sociological perspective. The emphasis of this course is on technology as the principal form of social interaction, and as a determinant of the reconstitution of the character and personality structures.
For this research topic, I addressed online harassment. Online harassment is defined as using a social medium to harm an individual. This research is important because those that deal with online harassment often deal with mental health issues. In order to research this topic my first step was to look at previous literature. I then created a questionnaire and distributed it to City Tech students to analyze their experiences and views with online harassment. After analyzing the data, it was found that the students at City Tech experienced online harassment that is parallel to previous research. With more than 50% of participants stating that they have faced online harassment at one point. With these findings it proves that there is not enough being done to rectify those who are victims of online harassment and that we have a long way to go to solve this issue.
ENG 1710ID: Introduction to Language and Technology Interdisciplinary
Professors Tamrah Cunningham & Reneta Lansiquot
Introduction to the relationship between language and technology by reviewing the history of various technologies of the word, including writing, printing, and digital media. The course will explore the history of rhetoric and its relationship to traditional, print-based technologies, as well as new forms and meanings of digital literacy.
We are students in Introduction to Language and Technology, an interdisciplinary course that incorporates creating and playing games into the curriculum using design game-based learning to help us explore the social and cultural connections between language and technology. Our main assignment was a research paper that focused on the relationship between a technological feature or platform (for example, the algorithm used to review resumes on a job website) and language in our daily lives. Part of the development of the research paper involved creating a playable tabletop game prototype that demonstrated and supported our thesis. We play tested these prototypes, analyzed the gameplay, and made necessary changes to both our games and our theses. The three game case studies highlighted in this poster include our theses and game rules. We also discuss the development of our games and theses throughout the course.
PHYS 1002ID: Introduction to the Physics of Natural Disasters Interdisciplinary
Professor Abdou Bah
This geophysics course for non-science majors focuses on natural disasters and the dynamic Earth processes that control them. It integrates the principles of geology, meteorology, climatology, oceanography, and astronomy to provide rudimentary understanding of geophysics. Students learn about the nature, causes, risks, impacts, and prediction of natural disasters including hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, and climate change. Laboratory exercises are incorporated with class work to illustrate and supplement the lecture material.
This poster aims to compare coastal floods to river floods by listing individual characteristics for each of the categories. The poster is split into different sections, abstract, causes, effects, prevention and mitigation, and conclusion. The causes for both floods are similar but there are differences like high tides in coastal floods or broken dams in river floods. As for effects the fatality graphs between 2000-2020 illustrate clear differences in the patterns each of the types of floods produce. When it comes to mitigation and prevention both floods are equal, the only difference is the scale of the structures. Although similar in nature coastal floods and rivers floods do have some differences.
