My baccalaureate nursing education experience here at New York City College of Technology has allowed me to build upon the knowledge gained during the completion of Associates degree in Nursing. The knowledge I have gained from baccalaureate nursing courses such as Professional Nursing, Community Nursing, Physical Assessment and Nursing Research has greatly improved my clinical practice in numerous ways. My understand of the different roles in nursing and their importance in safe patient care has grown and allows me to practice safe, efficient care to my patients. Based on my professional and educational experience, I believe that the ADN program prepares the student nurse for clinical practice in comparison to the BSN program that prepares the professional nurse for practicing outside of the clinical role such as patient advocacy, community involvement and professionalism.
