Summary of Ripe Figs
Babette is told by her godmother Maman Nanaine that when the figs are ripe she may visit her cousins on Bayou Lafourche. Babette becomes impatient knowing that she has to wait all summer until they are ripe. This makes her restless. But surprisingly the figs ripened quickly over the summer. Maman Nanaine allowed Babette to visit her cousins but asks her to tell Tante Frosine that she is looking forward to see her at Toussaint. Both Babette and her godmother have different view points on the timing of the figs.
