This project is about programming a mini light show with a song of our choice using the ETC ION console.
Song: Hanuman by Rodrigo y Gabriela
Space: Room v119 Lighting Lab in Citytech
First, I listened to the song several times and broke it down into different sections. I wrote descriptions for each section to get an overview of the colors, effects, and fixtures in the song.
Second, I began creating cues for each section using the offline ETC ION software based on the description above. This involved designing color patterns, position patterns, and effects. The primary goal of the effects is to enhance the audience’s sense of rhythm. I searched for the BPM of this song on the internet and then tested a suitable value based on that.
Third, I went to the lighting lab to test the color pattern and position pattern, adjusting the values to fit the actual physical space and fixtures.
I repeated these processes and corrected any minor errors until I was satisfied.
