Self-Analysis

I am graduating from the RN-BSN nursing program of New York City College of Technology. Through this program, I gained border views on continue of care in nursing, developed insights into nursing leadership and optimum client advocacy.

By joining interdisciplinary team meetings as a Nurse Manager’s student during leadership clinical rotations, I gained new viewpoints of leadership in nursing from a Nurse Manager’s perspective and understood the importance of a Nurse Manager to support each bedside nurse to advocate for clients’ needs in order to prevent complications and hospitalized readmission. Now I comprehendthat it is essential for each nurse to develop leadership skills to ensure both safety and quality care deliveries. Since then, I have been applying the advocacy skill into my daily practice. In addition, my views regarding continuations of care were further expanded throughout the RN-BSN nursing program. Clients changing needs in various settings made me understand that any fragment during transitions of care can impact clients’ health outcome. Thus, close collaboration with the disciplinary team is key to achieve smooth transitions of care beyond the acute hospital setting. The RN-BSN nursing program also taught me skills in researching evidence-based practices that I will be ultimately benefited from it throughout my whole nursing career.

The RN-BSN nursing program of NYCCT not only gave me comprehensive insights into nursing through different perspectives but also propelled me to contribute to the patient-centered care model by professionally advocating for all clients related health needs.
