Hello! My name is Wengsan. I was born and raised in Macau, a former colony of Portugal. It is now called Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. My family and I immigrated to the US when I was 14. I was raised in a strict and traditional home with a strong education background. As a result, everything was planned out by my parents and school teachers, in which I was not given the opportunity to choose my own path.  My first higher education degree was in business and finance. I was influence to choose that career by my cousin’s good living and by my parents’ pressure. They wanted me to have the successful life my cousin had but, it was not a good fit with me.

With many twists and turns, I ended up working in a dental clinic as an office assistant. In there, I discovered an occupation called Dental hygiene. I was mesmerized  by this profession. I believe that dental health is achieved by prophylaxis and education. Yet, a large population is lacking the knowledge for oral hygiene and disease preventions.  With this in mind, I returned to school and worked my way into the dental hygiene program. I want to be a dental hygienist to promote oral health to my patients and everyone who wants to participate and be proactive about their oral and overall health. I cannot wait to start practicing and meeting YOU!
