South Africa is below the equator in the southern hemisphere of the world which allows its winter and summer to be at opposite times of the year. Unlike the northern hemisphere, South Africa’s winter starts in June and ends in August. Their summers consist in the months of December to February. Rainfall is a prominent part of the countries climate. Although, South Africa is warm and temperate throughout the year, rainfall can vary from area to area. In the Kwa  Zulu Natal in the East region rain can reach forty inches which falls during the summer months. (Kalumbu, 2020, p. 15)
