The country has had a lax approach to the virus as cases started to slow down as of September 2020, allowing international travel and arrivals from countries with low infection rates. (Cook, 2020 p. 19) The economy of South Africa is the most variegated and modern of sub-Saharan Africa’s leading G.D.P.s per capita. Despite the lack of growth in the past years, South Africa is the dominant manufacturer of platinum, gold, diamonds, and coal. (Cook, 2020 p. 20)
