Personal statement about nursing

I graduated from the associate program of NYCCT in May, 2007.  I currently work on a 32 bed Medical Surgical Unit.  I have a  passion for nursing.  I feel blessed that I chose this profession.  Nursing allows for so many avenues of growth and success.  I have earned a position to educate, be a  trusted confidant and a representation of hope.  I am in a position to be an advocate for the population of which I serve.  Many times patients are admitted to the hospital and they and their family members are afraid, they have a feeling of frustration and lost hope.  I feel that it is my responsibility to make an impact in a positive and realistic manner for those affected.

My current role as an RN allows me to provide the most optimal service as possible within my scope of practice, benefiting not only the patient, but every one affected by the hospitalization of their loved one.   Nursing represents, for me, caring and compassion.  I  believe and practice doing the best for all at all times.
