Prior to my college studies I have always had a love for performing arts. However , what
once started as dancing on stage and in front of the camera turned into a desire to learn more
about the production aspect. Throughout my studies at City Tech and Kingsborough Community
College, I have taken a great interest in videography, photography and various forms of
entertainment production. This passion has landed me two jobs teaching photography and tv/
film production to middle and high school students. After graduation ,with a goal to take my career a step further, I plan to work freelance as a videographer/photographer. However the
overall objective is to be a director and own a production company. For my culmination project,
I propose to produce, write and direct a short narrative combining my love of film and
performing arts.
The short narrative is called “Dreamchaser”. The narrative tells the story of a young
female , Ifeoma, in NYC fighting anxiety and trying to stay focused on becoming a professional
dancer despite her own self doubts. She struggles balancing multiple jobs as well as training to
bring her closer to her dream becoming a signed professional dancer. We follow Ifeoma’s
journey leading up to her big audition. With the motivation of a close friend/roommate as well as
Ifeoma’s self endurance , she successfully becomes one step closer to her goal. For the duration
of this project I will be the Director , Producer and Writer. My teammate Tariah Spencer will be
filming and editing.
Essentially directing for a real production such as this will give me the experience I need
with working on a schedule, budget, managing a crew and bringing a concept to life all essential
skills necessary to own and run a successful production company.
