“A lifetime of competition has not cooled my ardor to win, but I have grown to love the study and training above all else ” ( Waitzkin, 2007).The words of the world famous chess player reflect the power that influences my life and my intentions. A human being’s life is the sequence of choices. My primary choice has always been learning and improving myself.
Nursing education is an essential lifelong process that results in accumulation of valuable knowledge and building a strong foundation for further nursing practice and expertise.Nowadays, nurses have to care for people with more complex and challenging to manage diseases. The healthcare organization expects nurses to perform on higher level contributing to the patient safety and quality of care. To respond to the demands of an evolving health care system and meet the changing needs of patients, nurses must achieve higher levels of education and training. Significant step in realizing this goal is for a greater number of nurses to enter the workforce with a baccalaureate degree or progress to this degree early in their career.
I am convinced that profession of nursing will benefit from having more nurses completing baccalaureate program. The BSN program gives an outlook on how the health care system operates as a whole and what are the roles of nursing within this dynamic constantly evolving system. Nursing education provides nurses with guidance and inspiration on how to be true leaders, effective managers, confident advocates, thorough researchers, effectively communicating organizers and collaborators, and empowering educators.
Throughout this program I have leant how diverse the nursing career opportunities are. Continuing education opens up new horizons in nursing practice regardless of whether it is clinical nursing, public health nursing, nursing research, or forensic nursing. BSN program enhanced my understanding of how concepts of high quality , cultural competence, cost-effective care, and evidence-based practice can all be integrated and benefit nursing practice
In conclusion, in the circumstances of constantly changing health care nursing education remain essential determinants of the direction in which nursing as a profession should be heading. I am very thankful to all of my professors who facilitated my educational process.
