Greetings and Salutations. My name is Tyné Hazel. Like many people , I was born and raised in New York City.
A question people like to ask children is: what would you like to be when you grow up? And like every stereotypical kid’s answer, I said “veterinarian.” I was infatuated with animals. I loved knowing all the arbitrary facts about them. During my adolescent years, I studied dogs and cat breeds. Now, the breeds still remain embedded in my brain.
I’ve enjoyed writing for as long as I could remember, whether it been a small nonsensical poem to revising a sentence from a long assignment to make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye and euphonious to my ears.
I knew I wanted to pursue writing. I was infatuated with it as well.
This infatuation with writing led me to reading. I’ve read avidly in high school. I made sure to purchase the best sellers. Some of the books I’ve read were “The Hunger Games” trilogy by Susan Collins, “The Pretty Little Liars” series by Sara Shepard, “The Mortal Instruments” by Cassandra Clare, “The Divergent” trilogy by Veronica Roth and “The Twilight Saga” by Stephanie Meyer, “The Wizard of Oz” by L Frank Baum, “Wicked” by “Oriental Express” and “And Then There Were None…” by Agatha Christie, “A Game of a Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire” series by George R.R Martin.
Contemplating this passion with reading, I asked myself if I would be able to capture and write an actual story since I’ve read so many before. I started writing after I graduated from high school. At first, writing didn’t come easy to me. It wasn’t as simple as all the prior authors I’ve listed made it seem. After months of frustration and writer’s block I had gotten some tips to sharpen my skills, enabling them to come naturally, slowly, but surely. I’m hoping to become better at world building, plot creating, and character making like the grandfather of fiction himself—George R. R Martin.
Also, I am Professional & Technical major and am pursing a job in the career. Currently, I am a full-time student enrolled in New York City College of Technology, pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Professional and Technical Writing and specializing and minoring in Psychology. I have taken several relevant courses such as Business and Professional Communication, Advanced Technical Writing, Planning and Testing User Documents, Writing With New Media, Professional Editing & Revising, and Information Architecture. I was drawn to this position because I have a deep infatuation for the major, find books enjoyable, detailed oriented, and I appreciate the art of storytelling, and also enjoy exceeding expectations. I am also an avid reader. Throughout my years in college, I was fortunate enough to have mastered the strong skills of communications, social relations, computing skills, writing skills, retail and customers relations all while maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
