Fiber, Fabric and Apparel Production

Thailand is a country known for producing fabric for many categories of apparel  such as “ men, women, and children, including intimate apparel; swimwear; casual, outdoor, and sports clothing; formal and evening wear; bridal attire; high-fashion apparel; socks, stockings, and panty hose; functional clothes; and uniforms”(Thai Trade Center , 2021). The amount of fiber , fabric and apparel production has let it become a valuable asset. “In 2016, the industry’s export revenue was valued at almost USD 7 billion, contributing to over 3% of total exports, with countries in ASEAN, the US, Europe and Japan as key customers”(BOI, 2017).  The reason for it\s success compared to other countries is because Thailand is capable of doing a majority of the production process. It can do ,”production, design and sale to home textiles. [It] is a world-renowned silk producer and also produces spin or twist yarn” (www.fibre2fashion.com, 2016).  Thailand is able to produce  synthetic fibers and weave it into yarn. It is not limited and can end up producing many categories of fabric such as fancy yarn , natural yarn and synthetic yarn.

Thailand  is excelling in  its eco-friendliness when it comes to dyeing, printing and finishing as they opt to use natural and plant derived dyes. This gives Thailand an upper hand as some consumers are eco friendly and aware of their carbon footprint.
