Natural Resources
Thailand is known for its abundant rice fields, but there are other noteworthy crops that can be grown. Some of these crops are ,”cassava, corn (maize), kenaf (a jutelike fibre), longans, mangoes, pineapples, durians, cashews, vegetables, and flowers” (Keyes, 2021). Some crops that bring in more money for the country are coffee and sugarcane. Rubber is also considered a valuable crop. Thailand is also known for exporting palm oil. Another resource is hardwood from the forest but that has been halted as the government has placed laws in order to stop deforestation.
Fishing is very prominent in Thailand as there are alot of water bodies available to the people there. The people have the option of eating cattle or fish if they may as there is a lot. Due to the abundance, fish are exported and some of the popular fish are, “… prawns, shellfish, Giant Mekong catfish, red tail catfish, giant snakehead, Siamese carp, Arapaima, Wallagonia, and Barramundi among others” (Omondi, 2019).
Another venue of natural resources comes within the land of Thailand. These are minerals such as,”… coal, natural gas, gold, fluorite, lead, manganese, rubber, limestone, basalt, niobium, zinc, tin, tungsten, gypsum, and lignite” (Omondi, 2019).
