Introduction to the ENG1121 Research Project
I will be handing out a more in-depth description of our Research Project and the discrete components of this project over the next couple of weeks. For now, I just want to give you a sense of what the three possible approaches to the Research Project will be.
The first is to write a traditional research paper on the impact of ICT from a particular disciplinary perspective and addressing a specific research question.
The second is to write a researched editorial. This project is described in Question 2 of the “Looking Further” section on p. 301 of your textbook.
The third is to develop a mini-chapter for the next edition of _Technology: A Reader for Writers_ dedicated to your particular discipline. In order to do this, you will need to select three to five articles or essays to include in your chapter, write an introduction to your chapter, write brief introductions to each of the articles or essays that you plan to include in the chapter, and finally write three to five reading questions for each article or essay.
Regardless of which approach to the Research Project you choose, you will in the course of the project compile an Annotated Bibliography, draft an Overview of Sources essay, and make a brief presentation to our class about your research project.
