The lecture of the day was Zoning which is the reason behind the shaping of the city. He started off with an example of the building located on the High Line by Iveil M Denari which is a great example, because zoning is a main cause that determines the buildings shape. Zoning is broken down into XII Articles and also 18 different groups. The professor also explained to the class what Bonuses were considered and explained that its more space being added to the Floor Area Ratio in exchange for giving back to the community with things like a plaza or a arcade. a Bonus request needs to be approved by the city and is used as for every square feet you giving back to the community you then get a bonus of square footage added to the FAR.
