The first project I was introduced to while being placed at DCAS Media Services was a weekly event called We Serve Wednesdays (WSW). This project had been going on for over two years by the time I arrived at Media Services and it involved me and my supervisor interviewing one of the many employees DCAS has on their roster every week while we walked in the streets of New York City. The behind the scenes oftentimes had me behind a Gimbal walking and recording the subject as one of my supervisors asked a series of questions about their titles, roles, and interests. The purpose of We Serve Wednesdays is to highlight a different employee every week on DCAS social media platforms. I believe this to be a great way to not only show the kind of roles that are offered in this government agency but also a chance to put the invaluable employees of DCAS, that aren’t appreciated enough by the city of New York, in the spotlight for that week. While DCAS and its employees are such a reliable and irreplaceable resource to the functionality of city agencies across the city, they are often unacknowledged by the people of New York City. We Serve Wednesdays is meant to try and bridge that gap of recognition for the hardworking employees that keep this city running!
