Black and White Shapes

I like the idea of using just black and white to work on an abstract shapes design project.  I divided the paper into four sections, and used the idea of symmetry for the opposite corners.  The part I loved the most is the flow of the negative space.  It connects all four sections together.  Also, the negative space transforms from black to white, and white to black.  The shapes design I chose are the combination of some Chinese traditional elements and some rectilinear abstract shapes.

There are some challenges I faced on this project.  The first challenge was the decision of the layout.  I had a few ideas about the layout at first, and then I combined them together to get the final layout.  Another challenge was the filling part.  Since I put a lot of the details in the design it created a hard time for me to finish.
