Table Clinic Presentation: Silver Diamine Fluoride

During the second semester of Dental Hygiene Program we were assigned to do research on topics relevant to oral health. My group was interested in discovering more about Silver Diamine Fluoride. This product is new in the United States and was approved by Food and Drug Administration in 2014 for treating dental hypersensitivity. It is a topical medication that has silver with antimicrobial ability and fluoride promoting remineralization. SDF can arrest the cavities in most of the cases, but follow up requires. It can be beneficial for the individuals who have challenges to receive the traditional treatment due to the age, behavior or health problems. Black staining is the only significant adverse affect.  But it is one of the ways to treat dental decay and can be the thee good alternative.
