For the Service Learning Project Activity our group decided to go on the field trip for development disabled children. We thought it will be beneficial to develop oral hygiene educational program for these children due to multiple factors as lack or limited abilities to perform daily activities, possible effect of medications and overall educational purposes. We demonstrated the proper tooth brushing method using demonstration toy; explained the importance of flossing playing with ice cubes forms and play dough imitating plaque between the teeth, yarn was used as floss. We also included nutrition part helping children to distinguish “healthy” and “not healthy” food. Its been very helpful and pleasant experience.
