Introduction

I have been leaving in the United States for around nine years.                                                                                            I was born in a country that has 9 time zones and it is washed by 12 seas. It has the same surface area as Pluto. The 2014 Winter Olympic Games and FIFA 2018 World Cup were scheduled to take place in that country. Population of this country drinks six times more tea per year than Americans. They like to pickle everything: cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage and even watermelon. Children are taught not to smile at school but despite of this fact people are friendly and willing to help. It is Russia.                                            Russian people like celebrations. They take a chance of every single reason to treat their coworker, neighbors or friends – be it their birthday or a wedding, or a promotion in the company. Hospitality plays a huge role in the Russian mentality. So if you make friends with Russian people, you will value this feature that Russians called “Wide Russian soul”.                                                                                                                             They are very superstitious! My favorite one is to sit before journey. When a member of the family is getting ready for a long journey, everyone in the house has to sit down before they are leaving. If you have heard a phrase “Let’s take a seat before the journey” then everyone has to sit somewhere for a minute. I consider that helpful, because it helps people to calm down after the disorder and remember if they forgot to pack anything. Another popular superstition is to look at yourself in a mirror if you had to come back. For Russians, going back to the house is a bad sigh. So if a Russian discovers after leaving the house that he forgot something, he would first decide if it is something he really needs, and if it is, he will come back and make sure to look in a mirror. Other feature of Russian people is to dress up on more occasions than other nationalities do. Even to go for a casual walk, Russian women would wear high heels. I connect that with an obsession, cultivated by older generation that woman must get married and have first child not later than 25 years old. After woman turns 30 and still hasn’t married- in Russia it is still something negative. That’s why everybody believes that they can meet their prince any second and you have to be ready for this moment. That are some sides of the Russian culture and I still feel like it’s my personality and I have that inside me.                                                                                                                                                                                                       I was studying international relations at the Udmurt State University. My interest in studying that for many years was influenced by history and diplomacy. I believed that study of international relations could help me to satisfy my curiosity in these fields. But my experience felt incomplete. Now I realize how much I’ve grown and my interests have changed.  In my opinion, the successful career starts with a proper education.  Having spent the last two years at New York City College of Technology made me to build myself as an individual. I hope to be able to share with people the importance of healthy dental hygiene and their happiness of having beautiful, healthy teeth and confident smile. I can not wait to graduate and begin to work in this field.
