Case Presentation 4: Supernumerary tooth

Hyperdontia or supernumerary tooth is the condition of having more teeth that appears to the regualr number of the teeth. The additional teeth may be small or can occur at any place in the dental arch. Arrangement can be symmetrical or not-symmetrical.   Four years old patient presented for the dental cleaning. Medical history was reviewed, patient is in the overall good health. IntraOral examination was within normal limits, during examining the dentition, supernumerary lateral incisor on the upper left quadrant was present. Referral was given to DDS for evaluation. Patient was very compliant with the “tell-show-do” method, followed all instructions. He was very comfortable to work with and allowed me to complete the dental hygiene treatment by polishing and applying Sodium Fluoride Varnish.
