Engineering Career Opportunities – NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development

The Office of Citywide Recruitment (OCR) with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) is excited to share with you and your community that the City of New York is currently hiring for various engineering positions.
 
Those interested in gaining experience and advancing their careers in mechanical engineering should consider taking the Mechanical Engineering Intern exam, which can be found at OASys – Exams (nyc.gov). This is an exam for an entry level position that offers a starting salary of at least $51k with City government benefits and room for a promotion and raise after only one year. This exam will be closed for filing on 7/26.
 
The NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) is also hiring for multiple Housing Inspectors, and candidates that hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering are eligible to apply. These positions are open for immediate hire and can be found at nyc.gov/jobs and by searching Job ID # 530408.

The Cooper Union’s Retraining Program for Immigrant Engineers (RPIE) is a free professional development opportunity that supports immigrant, refugee, and asylee engineers, technologists, or those in related fields as they build a competitive portfolio to equip them for the professional workforce and the career they want. Eligible participants are those who find themselves currently unemployed or in positions unrelated to their degrees or training.

RPIE offers engineers the opportunity to increase their technical knowledge to keep up with the latest engineering trends and build competitive portfolios that will help them gain access to higher-paying jobs in their career fields.

Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will be notified of their application status within seven days of submission. Classes and their dates/times are subject to change.
