Philosophy

Nursing is one of the most rewarding professions, in my opinion. My personal philosophy mimics that of Jean Watson’s. Watson’s theory stresses the importance of nurses expressing genuine care for their patients. Caring encompasses taking into account the “physical, emotional, sociocultural and spiritual environment of a person.” Nurses have the unique opportunity of being able to be with a  person during their most vulnerable time in life. We should strive to do nothing less than provide care to patients that reaches all of their needs – physical, emotion, sociocultural and spiritual. As a nurse, I personally strive to provide excellent care to all of my patients because for some of them, it’s the last experience they’ll ever have.
