According to Paul E. Spector in Industrial and Organizational Psychology human factors are “the interface between people and the physical environment.” Some examples are tools equipment and technology. With proper human factors people are safer on jobs and tasks are easier to accomplish. It is also called ergonomics or engineering psychology. In this field psychologists study the “design of the physical environment”.

In New York City College of Technology the class numbers are posted on the top of doors and it isn’t in chronological order. This makes it difficult to find classes especially since the numbers are not large enough to see from a distance. Sometimes there are classroom doors open so you cannot really see what room number is posted on it. There are classrooms hidden in corners and unless one is used to the set up finding classes can be irritating especially during the first weeks of school. I believe even numbers are on one side of the hall and odd numbers are on the other but for some reason some classes do not follow that rule. Too often students realize they are sitting in the wrong class or take longer than usual to find a class room.

My proposal for this problem would be to renumber classrooms so that the numbers are in chronological order down the hall way. Presentation is a major principle. This is a visual problem. Classroom numbers can be printed larger for students to see.  It would cut the time in half that students take to find classrooms. This would be time efficient. It would reduce the stress on students.
