Philosophy Of Nursing

Nursing is a profession that calls for individuals that are naturally kind-hearted. My philosophy of nursing is a belief that caring is the ultimate goal of nursing. Nurses should care for patients upon every encounter with the highest standard and code of ethic. Nurses should treat patients as if it was their loved one they were caring for. Nurses should be non-judgmental and work with patients to help modify unhealthy lifestyles. Everyone should be treated equal no matter the gender, race, religion, sexual orientation and so forth. Ā Nurses should give every patient respect regardless of their culture. Nurses should be willing to learn about different cultures on everyday encounters with patients.

Nurses must have strong communication skills and establish rapport with patients. Nurses should find time in their busy schedule to get to know their patients to show that they care. They should be a listening ear who brings comfort to any situation. Nurses must respect every patientā€™s privacy and work in a professional manner. The patient should be involved in their care at all times. Nurses should be empathetic and have patience. Nurses should work to bring patients back to health or keep them at optimal health. It is a nurseā€™s duty to give education to patients as needed. Honesty is important in nursing.

I believe nurses should be resilient and flexible to situations. They should be selfless and think beyond the money. Nurses are who the patient sees frontline and the care that they receive depends on if patients will return for care in the future. Nurses should make patients comfortable and available to their every need. Nurses should be able to turn someoneā€™s day around no matter how bad of a day the nurse is having. Education is important in the nursing profession. Nurses should always be learning and keep updated to latest trends in health care. Patients may forget the names of people who cared for them but they will remember how the person made them feel.
