“Since human beings cannot take care of themselves throughout their whole lives, especially at the beginning and at the end, nursing is essential to all. Nursing brings warmth and brightness into each individuals’ lives during their most critical and vulnerable moments through caring. Nursing can be on an individual level or on a public level. It pays a special attention to the patient as a whole and respects the patients’ and the patients’ families’ and friends’ wishes, wants and needs. There is a high concentration on a physical, physiologic, mental, social and spiritual well-being. It focuses on prevention, promotion and curing. It is driven by the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to achieve optimal health. Evidence-based practice and the “art” of caring are the fundamentals of nursing. And, it is not only about an experienced individual in a white uniform taking care of the weak or the sick one, but it is also about any unskilled individual capable of providing the care and support”.
