For our Introduction to Public Health Course (DEN 2413), 4 of my classmates and I had the opportunity to visit MetroKids Day Care and teach children ages 3-5 years old about the importance of oral health. This was such an enjoyable experience!
I had the opportunity to read the book “Brushing Teeth” by Mary Schuh. The children enjoyed the story and remembered all the key points! My individual contribution made an impression on the children. By reading I was able to capture their attention. I also showed the children the correct way to brush utilizing a typodont and the “Tell-show-do” method. The demonstation helped the children practice the correct brushing method with me.
Once we completed our visit, we had to write a research paper and present it to our class:
