About The Company

Inreach is a non-profit tech start-up that launched its app in 2016. The app is the first open source platform that connects LGBTQ+ individuals facing discrimination with safe, independently verified resources. These resources include legal and immigration assistance, housing assistance, employment, community spaces, and medical care. InReach vets all of the partnered organizations to ensure that they are safe and/or specifically cater to LGBTQ+ individuals. The core mission of InReach is to bridge the information gap within the LGBTQ+ community about how and where individuals can access safe and affordable resources. Because of its mission, InReach marketing materials are informational, and focus on the core services offered by InReach to both connect with new users and potential partner organizations.

InReach also has a volunteer program called the young professionals board (YPB). This group is a network of service-minded LGBTQ+ and allied professionals who volunteer their time to help expand and develop the Inreach app as well as promote it. One of the channels through which they promote the app is social media kits put together by the InReach graphic design team.

During my internship at InReach as a Graphic Design and Communications Program Intern I will be focusing on a wide array of promotional materials for InReach. The team will be working to produce print materials and coordinate their placements with partnered organizations, and create social media toolkits for both the YPB and general platform. The goal is to reach potential YPB members, provide current YPB members with a toolkit, reach potential users and LGBTQ+ folks in need, and reach safe verifiable resources so they can be added to the InReach platform. I had the idea to work collaboratively with the team of interns to create an extended, branded, asset library to give InReach a distinct and recognizable visual voice, and make future content creation move more smoothly.
