In our Policy and Advocacy Programs our aim is to work on changing policy to help our growing Geriatric Population. This program will help voice the opinion of the individuals and let us help them with what they believe they need in order to live a happy healthy life. This program has the goal to change policy for the Geriatric community as a whole, and we strive to be our client’s advocates.
Some of what we do includes:
- Writing letters to lawmakers about increasing the money given in Social Security or public assistance for the elderly.
- Bringing attention to the The Mental Health Reform Act of 2016, so the act is passed.
- Letter/ E-mail writing campaign to address congress and let them know the issues behind Medicare not covering all the health care costs.
- Going throughout different communities and teach them what they need to know about Medicare and persuade them to sign a petition for Medicare to cover more costs for elderly persons.
